Birgunj Metropolitan City is one of the 14 municipalities in Parsa District of Madhesh Province. As per the 2021 census, the metropolitan city has a total population of 272,382, comprising 142,195 males (52.2%) and 130,187 females (47.8%), with a literacy rate of 76.04%.
