Valley View School is located at Mid-Baneshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is an ‘A’ grade school and public incorporation run by Professional Educators Limited with the philosophy ‘Education for Personality Development’. The school places great emphasis on helping children to grow into thoughtful, responsible adults with a strong sense of right and wrong.

The school operates the Montessori, Primary, and Secondary programs at full capacity, incorporating the international curriculum in line with the curriculum prescribed by the Curriculum Division of the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal.

Montessori Kindergarten

Valley View School (VVS) embraces the Montessori system to nurture young learners from two-and-a-half years old, fostering independence and self-reliance in a secure and supportive environment. This educational approach, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over a century ago, is rooted in observing children's natural learning tendencies across diverse cultures.

At VVS, the Montessori program introduces beginners to their first social experiences beyond the family, helping them acquire skills to "do things by oneself." The specially designed "prepared environments" feature "Materials for development" that encourage children to engage in self-chosen learning activities. These materials are invitingly arranged on low, open shelves, offering a rich array of solid geometric forms, puzzle maps, colored beads, and various manipulative tools designed to isolate specific learning qualities.

The VVS Montessori program emphasizes sensory experiences, the exploration of logical and mathematical reasoning, language coordination, and muscle development. A vibrant atmosphere of oral language is fostered through storytelling, reading aloud, and songs. The program focuses on sharpening attitudes by allowing children to work on activities of their choice at their own pace, fostering a blend of freedom and self-discipline in a calm, ordered space. This environment is specifically designed to meet children's developmental needs with a full understanding of core Montessori concepts.

Central to the Montessori philosophy at VVS is the "Process of Normalization," which cultivates characteristics such as a love of order, work, spontaneous concentration, attachment to reality, and spontaneous self-discipline. Primary and Secondary Programs

At Valley View School, Students in primary and secondary programs undertake a demanding curriculum intended to prepare them for pursuing higher studies, which uniquely combines the curriculum in line with the government of Nepal and special learning experiences. Teaching Approach

The teaching approach at Valley View is child-centered. The school provides ‘A’ grade-education based on a standard curriculum, consistent with the individual academic capabilities and personal and social needs of each student. Periodic exams, assignments, and subject-wise project works are conducted regularly to ensure required progress under the strict supervision of trained faculty. Field trips, educational excursions, and lab work that combine academic activities with real-life learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth make up a special learning experience at VVS.

Evaluation and Assessment

Summative evaluation is used to decide student class promotion, and term and unit evaluations are administered as part of formative evaluation to diagnose problems. Each child’s profile is maintained and shared with parents after all the mentioned tests. Monthly tests are administered and reported to guardians, including details of performance and academic advice needed for their wards. Question papers are designed in both subjective and objective sets. Creative works and presentations are endorsed as supplementary aspects of evaluation.

Discipline

Students are expected to maintain the school code of conduct. Violation of school rules may result in disciplinary action. The “Behavior Referral Form” is to be signed by parents or guardians and returned to the school. The purpose of disciplinary action is to reform a student's character and help them become a civic member with a positive attitude.

Counseling Program

Counselors and experienced teachers meet individually with students facing emotional problems to help them identify their problems and work towards finding solutions.

School/Home Communication

The most effective form of communication is the parent-teacher meeting. Such meetings are regularly held on various occasions during the academic year. In addition, parents can contact the school at least a day in advance and arrange a special meeting with the faculty, coordinators, vice principal, or principal to discuss exam results, students’ progress in studies, and other general concerns.
