About Us

Shree Jana Jyoti Secondary School is a public school located in Baddichaur, Barahatal Rural Municipality-5, Surkhet district, within Karnali province.
The school was established on Baisakh 30, 2029 BS, under the name "Nepal Rashtriya Primary School." Later, from 2043 BS, it started operating under its current name, Shree Jana Jyoti Secondary School.

According to local intellectuals and social workers, the school was founded by the late Shri Ratna Bahadur Thapa, with Shri Rajaram Garja serving as the founding head teacher. Many other local intellectuals and social workers also played important roles in establishing the school.

The school was initially started with class 1 only. Gradually, classes 2 and 3 were added. In 2032 BS, the school received approval for the primary level. From 2038 BS, lower secondary level classes began. Nine years later, in 2052 BS, the school participated in the SLC examination for the first time. From 2054 BS onward, it also began offering +2-level classes. 

In the technical education sector, the school has been running a 15-month Agriculture JTA (Junior Technical Assistant) program with government subsidy since 2067 BS. From 2071 BS, the 15-month Agriculture JTA was upgraded and extended to 18 months in the Plant Science/Animal Science streams. Currently, the programs are running as an 18-month Agriculture and Veterinary JTA.

From 2071 BS, a 3-year Diploma in Agriculture program has also started. Since 2080 BS, earthquake-affected children have been provided with 3-year Agriculture Diploma in Plant, and from the next year, 3-year Livestock programs will also run.

These programs are being implemented to further increase skilled manpower and agricultural production. Additional agriculture-related programs are also being run to make them more effective and community-oriented.
