The legacy of Shree Shanti Secondary School is deeply rooted in the spiritual and communal history of Kalikot. Its name, "Shanti" (Peace), was inspired by the renowned Yogi Naraharinath, who performed a sacred Kotihom ritual for peace at the confluence of the Ghattegad and Rupsa rivers. Later, while upgrading the school's level, it was found that the geographical area was too small. Considering a central location for the service area and based on the advice of village elders, intellectuals, and social workers, the school was relocated from Dhanchu to Ratimata in Ward No. 5, the central part of Malkot VDC, on Mangsir 15, 2054 BS. At that time, the school granted permission for Grade 6 and began operating as a lower secondary school.
Driven by the expectations, needs, contributions, and cooperation of the general community, the school continued to grow. The school received permission to run Grade 9 (secondary level) on Jestha 1, 2065 BS, and later on Kartik 7, 2068 BS, it received permission for Higher Secondary level (+2). Currently, the school operates from ECD (Early Childhood Development) to Grade 12. At present, there are a total of 19 teacher-staff members and 416 students engaged in teaching and learning at this school.
Currently located at an elevation of 1,674 meters (5,524 feet) and spanning an area of 3,100 square meters in the heart of the Himalayas, Shree Shanti Secondary School plays a vital role in the growth of the Narharinath community. Operating on hilly terrain, the school continues to meet the evolving needs of its students, providing a structured pathway from early learning to university readiness for the youth of Kalikot.
