The Mahakali Polytechnic Institute was established through a joint partnership between Bhimdatta Municipality and Mahakali Provincial Hospital. Its core mission is to provide accessible and quality technical education to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds within the region, under the operation of the local government.
The institute formally began operations after receiving affiliation from the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), following the enactment of the Mahakali Polytechnic Institute Establishment and Operation Act, 2078, which was passed by the Bhimdatta Municipality's City Council on January 26, 2022 (B.S. 2078/10/12).
As a non-profit educational institution, Mahakali Polytechnic Institute is dedicated to ensuring that students from low and middle-income families residing in the area have access to quality technical education. Since the academic session 2078/079 (2021/2022 AD), the institute, located in Bhimdatta Municipality Ward No. 4, has been offering diploma-level programs in the health sector.
Currently, the institute offers four health-related programs: General Medicine, Pharmacy, Lab Technician, and Ophthalmology. Notably, the Certificate Level Ophthalmic Science program is conducted in collaboration with the Netra Jyoti Sangh Geta Eye Hospital. The institute is continuously striving to increase local students' access to technical education.

To establish a Placement and Career Unit (PCU) to connect students with national and international markets, providing information about various employment opportunities and fostering self-employment.
To update statistics of industries, businesses, companies, suppliers, government and non-government organizations, and hospitals related to the health sector.
To conduct various health camps, health desks, and health services to connect students with the community.
To manage human resources.
To document and evaluate the learning achievements of examinees to enhance learning outcomes.
To operate the Mayor Scholarship program and initiate scholarships with various local bodies.
