About Us

Latinath Model Secondary School is a community-based educational institution located in Chaupata, Ward No. 5 of Lekam Rural Municipality, Darchula District, Sudurpashchim Province, Nepal. The school is approximately 51 kilometers southwest of the district headquarters and at an elevation of about 1,579 meters above sea level.

The foundation of education in this area began in 1955 AD (2011 B.S.) with the establishment of a local learning center initiated by community members who envisioned a better future for their children. In 1958 AD (2015 B.S.), this initiative was formally developed into Malikarjun Primary School, marking the beginning of organized schooling in Chaupata.

As educational awareness and demand increased, the school expanded further with the establishment of Latinath Middle School in 1968 AD (2025 B.S.). Despite geographical challenges and limited infrastructure, strong community participation and collective effort enabled the gradual development of physical facilities and academic programs. Today, the school provides education from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 12, including Ten Plus Two (+2) programs in Science, Management, and Education under the National Examinations Board, as well as CTEVT programs such as Pre-Diploma in Veterinary Science and Diploma in Agriculture (Animal Science), offering students multiple pathways for academic and vocational development.

In 1985 AD (2042 B.S.), the primary and lower secondary levels were merged and reorganized, strengthening the institutional structure. Continued dedication from local stakeholders ultimately led to the school’s upgrade to the secondary level in 1991 AD (2048 B.S.), fulfilling a long-held aspiration of the community.

Throughout its history, Latinath Model Secondary School has been shaped by the commitment, sacrifice, and cooperation of parents, educators, and social leaders. Beyond formal education, the school has also contributed to social awareness and community transformation. Today, it stands as an important educational center in the Lekam region, committed to providing accessible and quality education while supporting the overall development of society.
