Admission Guidelines

Step 1: Required Documentation

To begin the application process, the following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • A copy of either the child’s original birth certificate or an attested photocopy of the relevant page.
  • Official copies of the student’s academic reports for the past two years.
  • Five recent passport-size photographs.
  • A completed Application Form.
  • The child's Medical Record.
  • A Transfer Certificate from the previous school (required for admission to Class 2 and onwards).

Admission Process

Once an application is received, the admission process will begin. The child’s age provides the initial indication for the appropriate class. An aptitude test will then either confirm this placement or lead to further assessment. The school believes students should be with children of a similar age, tackling tasks with the appropriate intellectual challenge.

Age Guidelines

The following are the age guidelines for children entering GRS School. The child must have reached the specified age by March 31st of the admission year.

  • Entering Class 1: 5 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 2: 6 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 3: 7 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 4: 8 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 5: 9 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 6: 10 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 7: 11 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 8: 12 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 9: 13 ½ years old
  • Entering Class 10: 14 ½ years old

Step 2: Assessment and Aptitude Test

After receiving the initial documentation with the child’s application, the school will arrange for an assessment to determine the child's appropriate class placement.

Aptitude Test

For entry to Class 3 and upwards, children are required to take an aptitude test. This test will reflect what the school expects a child to be able to do by the end of the preceding school year. However, those seeking admission during the final term will be assessed using learning objectives from their current year of study.

  • Students seeking admission to Classes 3-5 will be assessed on their skills in English, Science, and Mathematics.
  • Students seeking admission to Class 6 and above will also be assessed on their understanding of scientific concepts, in addition to Mathematics, Science, and English.

Personal Interaction

The school prefers to meet students personally to discuss their interests and academic progress. This process is also essential for those who have found the aptitude tests challenging, as a further assessment may be conducted to place the student in the appropriate class. If possible, the school likes to meet both parents.

Godawari Residential School always welcomes students and strives to offer them a platform to showcase their abilities.

Applying from Outside Lalitpur

For those applying from outside Lalitpur, please email copies of your identification documentation to the school, and we will respond accordingly.

The school will conduct an online aptitude test for these applicants. It requires that the test is conducted fairly and that the work submitted is the child’s own. After evaluating the test, if a conversation with the child is deemed essential, a telephonic interview will be arranged.

Applicants from outside Lalitpur are often interested in the hostel facility. Details of the hostel can be found in the boarding option section. The address and contact details of a local guardian may be furnished at the time of admission.
