Established as the oldest educational institution in the district, Badimalika Secondary School has a rich history of fostering literacy in the region. Originally starting as a Gurukul in Gautukot prior to 1956 (2013 BS), the school evolved through various stages, including operating as Shambhunath Middle School, before being officially recognized as a secondary school in 1975 (2032 BS). The school was built on the foundation of community spirit, established through land donations from local philanthropists like Dharmadatta Upadhyay and sustained by the labor and "Muthidan" (grain donations) of the local population.

In response to the growing demand for modern education, Badimalika Secondary School has successfully implemented an English-medium curriculum alongside traditional tracks. Since 2011 (2068 BS), the institution has also been affiliated with CTEVT to provide specialized agricultural education. To further support academic excellence, the school conducts dedicated residential classes for students preparing for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).

With an enrollment of 960 students, including a high representation of female students and children from marginalized communities, Badimalika Secondary School, stands as the largest school in the district by student volume as of 2026 . The school’s commitment to quality education has had a significant socio-economic impact, successfully curbing local migration as parents now find urban-standard education within their own municipality.

The school operates strictly under the "School as a Zone of Peace" concept, ensuring that the academic environment remains free from political activities. Under the leadership of the Raskot Municipality and the School Management Committee, Badimalika Secondary School continues to lead the district in academic performance, consistently outperforming neighboring institutions in SEE results.
