In accordance with the University Grants Commission Program Procedure 2082 and the Higher Education Scholarship Management Directive 2080 (First Amendment), this notice is for interested students currently enrolled in the first year of Bachelor’s or Master’s levels for the academic year 2082/083. 

Eligible candidates, including persons with disabilities, the economically underprivileged, Dalits, Muslim women, children of martyrs and conflict victims, and former Kamlari students, must meet the minimum qualifications.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the scholarship is targeted at individuals who are disabled, economically disadvantaged, or descendants of Dalits, martyrs, conflict victims, freedmen, and Muslim women. To meet the criteria, students must be enrolled in the first year of an undergraduate or postgraduate program during the fiscal year 2081/082.

  1. Age Limit: Must not exceed 25 years for Bachelor’s level and 30 years for Master’s level. This age limit does not apply to children of martyrs/conflict victims and students with disabilities.
  2. If students who received a scholarship last year submit a new application, it will not be valid.
  3. No action will be taken on applications received after the deadline or without necessary documents.
  4. The Commission will not provide double scholarships to any student for the same level of study.

Required Documents

  1. Nepali Citizenship Certificate (photocopy).
  2. Recent passport-size photograph.
  3. A downloadable letter of recommendation from the UGC website's scholarship section.
  4. Information about the applicant's bank account, along with a copy of the checkbook
  5. Certificate and recommendation letter showing the relevant category
    • In the case of children of martyrs or conflict victims, a recommendation letter stating that they are children of martyrs or conflict victims from the concerned local level or District Administration Office or body designated by the Government of Nepal.
    • In the case of persons with disabilities, proof of disability (specifying the category of disability)
    • In the case of Dalits, proof of being a Dalit caste
    • In the case of freed Kamlaris, proof of being a freed Kamlari
    • In the case of Muslim women, proof of being Muslim
    • In the case of economically disadvantaged, a certificate issued/recommended by the Government of Nepal or bodies under it stating that they are from a disadvantaged household.

6. Students who have already been selected and received the first, second, or third installment must upload the following documents for scholarship renewal to receive the remaining installments:

  1. Schedule 5 (Anusuchi 5).
  2. Progress Report (Grade Sheet):

(a) Bachelor’s (Annual System): Admit card of the 1st-year exam for the 2nd installment; 1st-year results for the 3rd installment; 2nd-year results for the 4th installment.

(b) Bachelor’s (Semester System): Admit card of the 2nd semester for the 2nd installment; 2nd-semester results for the 3rd installment; 4th-semester results for the 4th installment.

(c) Master’s Level: 1st-semester results for the 2nd installment. (3) Copy of the student's bank account checkbook.

Old Notice

The University Grants Commission (UGC), located in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, has extended the application deadline for scholarships for higher education to benefit students enrolling in the first year of their bachelor's or master's degree program in the fiscal year 2081/82.

Initially, UGC had set a deadline to submit an application for the scholarship on Chaitra 13, 2081, on its first notice.  This reflects UGC's commitment to broadening access to advanced education for various underprivileged groups.
