Chinese Academy of Sciences Scholarship Program

Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology ( TU IoST) is now accepting applications for the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Scholarship Program.

In accordance with the CAS Scholarship Award Scheme procedures, applications are invited from eligible students currently enrolled in the relevant Central Departments and Constituent Campuses. Each Central Department must forward the name and application of one student, endorsed by the Department's Research Committee.

The deadline for the application submission is Mangsir 14, 2082 (November 30, 2082).

CAS Scholarship Award Scheme: Procedure

1. Students should be regular, either in the third or fourth semester at the master's level, studying at the Central Departments or at Constituent Campuses of TU.
2. Students should be eligible for a master's dissertation in that subject/ discipline.
3. Students who already have a scholarship from UGC, NAST, Government of Nepal, etc, will be eligible only when a no-objection letter (NOL) is available from those institutions/agencies. Only those who received partial support can apply.
4. Students will be asked to submit a proposal in the given format (below). Plagiarism will be checked using iThenticate software. Similarly index (successive word count 8, excluding reference and quote) should be below 15%.
5. CAS Fellowship will be awarded to those students whose proposal has been approved by CDRC. This will be the First Stage of Selection.
6. In the second or final stage, the student's performance (grade sheet) in the previous semesters (e.g., for this year's first and second semesters), of which results have already been published, will be taken into consideration. If two or more students' cumulative SGPA is found to be the same, then the previous degree's percentage/grade (successively B.Sc., Plus Two) will be considered. Therefore, students are asked to submit a Grade Sheet of his/her previous semesters and a Transcript of B.Sc. to the department.
7. CDRC will coordinate all the Constituent Campuses of related subjects to receive more proposals from the students. CDRC of Central Departments will recommend one name for the CAS Scholarship either from the Department or from the Constituent Campuses as per the criteria mentioned. HoD of CDs will send a letter to IoST, TU with the name of the selected candidate and his/her proposal, plagiarism report, grade sheets, transcript, etc.
