A three-day teachers’ training workshop successfully concluded at New Summit Secondary School, aimed at strengthening teaching practices at the pre-primary and primary levels. The workshop was held on Falgun 16, 23, and 24, bringing together educators from across the country.
The training focused on empowering teachers with student-centered teaching tools and strategies, helping them create more engaging and effective classroom environments for young learners. The sessions emphasized practical teaching approaches that encourage creativity, participation, and critical thinking among students.

Speaking about the program's purpose, the School/College Chairperson, Mr. Ajaya Dhakal, highlighted the importance of supporting women educators. He stated that, since around 90 percent of teachers in pre-primary and primary education are women, the workshop was designed to equip these teachers with 21st-century teaching tools and skills to enhance children's learning experiences.
Participants from different regions attended the workshop with great enthusiasm. Mr. Jit Bahadur Malla, a participant from Kailali, shared his commitment to the training. “As soon as I saw information about the training on social media, I cancelled my ticket to Kailali and stayed in Kathmandu to attend all three days of the program. I am glad to have been part of this session,” he said.
Academic Planner Ms. Lajita Sharma emphasized the importance of shifting towards modern teaching practices. “It is high time that we talk seriously about student-centric pedagogy. Interactions and learning opportunities with experts in education allow teachers to genuinely reflect on what the teaching profession looks like globally and where we, as teachers, see ourselves in the future,” she stated.
Similarly, Ms. Sajani Thapa, Coordinator at KMC school, Shankhamul, played a key role in encouraging teachers to actively participate in the workshop. She emphasized the importance of professional collaboration among educators and noted that such workshops provide valuable opportunities for teachers to share ideas, learn from one another, and continuously improve their classroom practices. She also ensured that more teachers could benefit from the training and remain actively engaged throughout the sessions.
Sharing her experience, Ms. Pooja Dhakal, a teacher at New Summit Secondary School, expressed her appreciation for the workshop. “Getting the opportunity to learn from more than five experts was very interesting. Every session was precise and meaningful, bringing ample ideas and insights. We are very thankful for such energizing workshops organized in our premises,” she said.
The training concluded on International Women’s Day, making the closing ceremony even more meaningful. On this occasion, the organizing team felicitated a keen participant and Pranita Shrestha, Principal of Rainbow Kids, who attended all three days of the training along with her team. She was recognized for her 17 years of dedication and contributions to preschool education, as well as her commitment to regularly updating her teaching team on the skills required in modern education.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, School Principal Mr. Rupendra Pokharel emphasized the institution’s commitment to educational development. “As part of our social responsibility, we aim to organize such educational events frequently to support teachers and improve the quality of education,” he said.
The workshop was concluded by College Principal Mr. Chok Raj Dawadi, who expressed appreciation for all participants and a shared commitment to strengthening innovative and student-centered teaching practices in school education.
