Nepali teams have achieved remarkable success in the recently held IEEE Xtreme 19.0, a 24-hour global programming marathon that challenges students worldwide to solve algorithmic and computational problems under real-time pressure.
Among 8,169 registered teams from over 70 countries, Nepal’s top performers showcased impressive global rankings:
| National Rank | Team | Global Rank | College |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | CalmlyChaos | 68 | IOE, Pulchowk Campus |
| 2 | ArrayOfHope | 77 | IOE, Pulchowk Campus |
| 3 | KIA | 117 | IOE, Pulchowk Campus |
| 4 | SPAX | 507 | IOE, Pulchowk Campus |
| 5 | Nightingale | 621 | NCIT College |
Notably, two Nepali teams secured global Top 100 positions, a significant milestone that reflects the growing strength of Nepal’s student community in competitive programming.
The top three teams, CalmlyChaos, ArrayOfHope, and KIA, were recognized by Rock Tech Shop and Mudita Stores with electronic prizes and will also receive monetary awards from the IEEE Nepal Section.
IEEE Xtreme 19.0 was conducted in a hybrid format on October 25–26, 2025 (Kartik 8–9, 2082), allowing participants to join either online or in person. The event was managed by the IEEE Nepal Section, in collaboration with IEEE Student Branches from Pulchowk, Thapathali, KEC, NCIT, and NEC.
This year’s competition saw strong national participation, with 61 on-site participants, 5 proctors, and numerous guests present throughout the 24-hour contest. Out of 108 registered contestants, the remaining joined virtually from across the country.
Globally, IEEEXtreme continues to be one of the largest student programming contests, offering attractive prizes, including an all-expenses-paid trip to any IEEE conference for the first-place global winners, as well as substantial cash awards and merchandise for other top teams.

Locally, IEEE Nepal also provided food, lodging, and technical support throughout the event, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all participants.
Following Nepal’s growing success, the IEEE Nepal Section aims to further increase participation and improve national rankings in upcoming editions, inspiring more students to engage in problem-solving, innovation, and teamwork through this prestigious global platform.
