Hult Prize 2025/26 at Khwopa College of Engineering (KhCE) successfully conducted the Business Model Canvas Workshop on December 27, 2025, at Hall 3, Block F&G. The event equipped students with essential strategic frameworks for transforming innovative ideas into viable business ventures, marking another significant milestone in preparing participants for the global social entrepreneurship competition.

The Business Model Canvas Workshop aimed to introduce students to one of the most powerful strategic tools used by entrepreneurs and innovators worldwide. Under the leadership of Campus Director Mr. Rohan Singh and expertly facilitated by the immediate past Campus Director, Mr. Adarsha Shrestha, the session provided participants with practical frameworks for designing, testing, and refining business models. Hosted by MC Lasata Tuladhar and Event Manager Sampada Kshetri, the event seamlessly integrated theoretical learning with interactive activities that brought the BMC methodology to life.
Mr. Adarsha Shrestha, immediate past Campus Director of Hult Prize at KhCE, delivered an exceptional workshop on the Business Model Canvas framework. A five-time hackathon winner and accomplished leader who served as Event Manager (2023-24) and Campus Director (2024-25) for Hult Prize at KhCE, Mr. Shrestha brought extensive practical experience to the session. His impressive journey includes roles as a Leapfrog Student Partner, an AI Fellow at Fusemachines, and a Student Fellow at Huawei SEEDS for the Future, all at the intersection of technology and real-world problem-solving.

Mr. Shrestha expertly guided participants through the nine building blocks of the Business Model Canvas, including Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Channels, Customer Relationships, Revenue Streams, Key Resources, Key Activities, Key Partnerships, and Cost Structure.
He illustrated these concepts with compelling real-world examples, including Nespresso's revolutionary business model. He explained how Nespresso transformed the coffee industry by creating unique, compatible coffee pods for its machines, turning a simple product into a sustainable business ecosystem. This lock-in strategy demonstrated how innovative value propositions and careful business model design can create competitive advantages and customer loyalty. Mr. Shrestha's presentation combined theoretical frameworks with practical examples from his entrepreneurial experiences, showing how the BMC serves as a visual strategic management tool that helps teams understand how all business elements interconnect.

To enhance engagement and ensure active listening, participants received bingo sheets containing segments and keywords from the presentation through the BMC Bingo activity. Students attentively marked off concepts as Mr. Shrestha covered them, then photographed their completed sheets and posted them on Instagram stories. The fastest participants were declared winners, while additional lucky participants were selected through a Spin the Wheel activity.

Following the main session, teams engaged in the Idea Tinder networking game during the tea break. Each team received a unique name and two coupons to distribute as they circulated among peers, listened to diverse business ideas, and pitched their own concepts. Upon reconvening, teams presented their favorite ideas and distributed coupons accordingly; the team receiving the most coupons was declared the winner. This gamified approach created an energetic atmosphere where students practiced articulating their value propositions while learning from peers' creative approaches.

Campus Director Mr. Rohan Singh presented a Token of Love to Mr. Adarsha Shrestha, acknowledging his expertise and invaluable contribution to equipping students with powerful business planning frameworks. Winners of BMC Bingo and Idea Tinder activities received their prizes, with additional participants selected through the Spin the Wheel receiving exciting rewards.

The Business Model Canvas Workshop successfully achieved its objectives of equipping students with essential strategic frameworks for transforming ideas into viable ventures. Mr. Adarsha Shrestha's unique perspective as both a recent student leader and accomplished innovator resonated deeply with participants, providing relatable yet inspiring guidance. The seamless integration of theoretical learning with interactive activities created a holistic educational experience that engaged students intellectually while encouraging creative networking and peer learning.
