Kantipur City College (KCC), affiliated with Purbanchal University, has officially launched the Bachelor of Technology in Artificial Intelligence (B.Tech. in AI) program in 2025, aligning with Nepal’s evolving educational needs and global technological advancements. This program is an undergraduate degree focused on Artificial Intelligence specialization, designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge, research skills, and practical expertise in AI.
The program aims to produce skilled professionals who can contribute to Nepal's burgeoning digital economy. By providing in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills in areas such as machine learning, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, and Computer Vision, the curriculum prepares students to develop AI-driven solutions for key sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, and finance. The teaching methodology emphasizes Project-Based Learning, research, and industry collaboration, as well as laboratory work, ensuring that students gain practical experience.
According to KCC, the introduction of this program is a strategic move to empower the next generation of innovators. By offering high-quality AI education within Nepal, the college hopes to create opportunities for students to apply their skills in solving local socio-economic challenges, potentially reducing the trend of students seeking education abroad. The importance of this initiative was highlighted during a recent interaction program featuring Prof. Dr. Moinul Islam Zaber from the University of Dhaka, who shared international perspectives on AI education and its role in Nepal's digital future.

Objectives of the Program:
- To produce skilled human resources to support Nepal’s growing digital economy.
- To equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete at the global level.
- To prepare technical experts capable of developing AI-driven solutions in agriculture, healthcare, education, finance, communication, and transportation.
- To promote entrepreneurship and research in Artificial Intelligence.
KCC, a well-established institution with over 10,000 graduates, is now accepting applications for the B.Tech. in AI program for the academic session 2025. Prospective students with a +2 (Science) background or equivalent are eligible to apply.
Teaching Methodology
In the pursuit of an enriching and practical educational experience, the teaching methodology is designed around several key pillars. A core element is Project-Based Learning (PBL), which allows students to tackle real-world challenges and develop critical problem-solving skills through hands-on projects. This approach is significantly enhanced by research and industry collaboration, providing valuable opportunities for students to work alongside professionals and apply their knowledge in a practical setting. Furthermore, laboratory-based learning offers a dynamic environment where theoretical concepts are solidified through experiments and practical application. To broaden their perspectives and professional network, students are also given ample opportunities to participate in international conferences and seminars, exposing them to global research trends and fostering academic exchange.
