The New Summit Secondary School in Shantinagar, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Kathmandu Uday, has successfully kicked off a 13-day 'Free Winter Camp' targeting both its students and children from the local community.
The initiative, rooted in the school’s commitment to social responsibility, aims to provide a productive environment for children during their winter break. Beyond academic enrichment, the camp features various sports activities designed to foster physical development and healthy engagement among participants.

The school's Principal Rupendra Pokharel stated that the 13-day Free Winter Camp was designed with structured, creative, and purposeful activities to make the winter break meaningful and productive, focusing on effective learning beyond the classroom.
The school, which underwent a major restructuring of its teaching-learning practices in April 2024 (Baisakh 2081 B.S.), continues to promote a modern educational concept in the Baneshwor area. The school's Founder, Ajay Dhakal explained, "This concept aligns the national curriculum with world-class practices, emphasizing student-centered learning and meaningful participation."
Adding to its community outreach, the school also concluded a three-day Free Art Camp to mark the arrival of the New Year 2026, focusing on nurturing creativity and strengthening community ties.
Bina Maharjan, President of the Lions Club of Kathmandu Uday, expressed pride in the partnership. "Our team is honored to bring children from different schools together to equip them with essential life skills," she said. During the 13-day session, participants are receiving specialized training from Club Uday experts in areas such as self-defense, public speaking, art, and 'good touch-bad touch' awareness.
The camp will conclude with a talent recognition ceremony on January 23 (Magh 9), coinciding with Saraswati Puja, where outstanding participants will be rewarded for their achievements.
