Tribhuvan University (TU), Institute of Science and Technology (IoST), successfully conducted the entrance examinations for various Master of Science (M.Sc.) programs for the academic year 2082. The examination took place on Poush 23, 2082, with a total of 2,293 candidates participating for admission to 19 distinct academic programs.

Data released by IOST highlights that Physics and the Master of Information Technology (MIT) were the most popular programs this year. Physics had the highest participation, with 365 candidates, followed closely by MIT, which attracted 334 students. Chemistry also saw significant interest, with 276 applicants taking the entrance test.
In the biological sciences, Microbiology had 188 participants, while Zoology registered 136. The Botany, Biodiversity, and Environmental Management (BEM) categories had a combined total of 126 students (118 in Botany and 8 in BEM).
Additionally, information technology and data-driven fields showed strong numbers, with 160 students appearing for Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) and 159 students for Data Science.
Other specialized programs saw varying levels of interest, with 137 students in Environmental Science, 88 in Mathematics, 64 in Geological Engineering, 53 in Statistics, and 51 in Biotechnology. Additionally, 35 students sat for the Food Technology entrance exam, while 17 sat for the Hydrology and Meteorology exam, and 16 sat for the Mountain and Mountaineering Science exam.
The Institute of Science and Technology stated that the entrance examination results are expected to be published following the completion of the evaluation process.
