Private school operators have announced a nationwide protest program, stating that several provisions of the School Education Bill 2080, recently approved by the Federal Parliament’s Education, Health, and Technology Committee, are against private schools.

In a joint statement issued on Bhadra 22, 2082, major organizations, including PABSON, National PABSAN, HISSAN, APEN, and NMA, declared joint protests across the country. The organizations have also called upon all concerned committees, member schools, and stakeholders to actively participate in the movement.

Key Demands of Private Schools:

  • Withdrawal of the provision that requires schools registered under the Company Act to operate as “non-profit.”
  • Removal of the term “full scholarship” from the bill.
  • Cancellation of compulsory provisions regarding uniforms, textbooks, educational materials, transportation, food, and other services provided by schools.
  • Retaining the authority of scholarship distribution within schools, with the provision of forming a committee, including a municipal representative, for providing scholarships transparently.
  • Immediate abolition of the provision that restricts CTEVT and higher education opportunities in 11 universities to only students from community schools under scholarships.

Protest Programs:

  • Bhadra 24, 2082 (September 9, 2025): Private school operators across the country will hold joint meetings with their respective federal parliamentarians in the morning and evening.
  • Bhadra 24 and 25, 2082 (September 9–10, 2025): A massive protest rally will be organized at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, starting at 11:00 AM.
