Patan Academy of Health Sciences Introduces PhD in Public Health Sciences

The Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS), a leading public not-for-profit institution dedicated to improving the health status of Nepal’s citizens, has officially launched an advanced training and research program in the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Health Sciences from the academic session 2026.

This three-year, full-time program is designed for professionals and researchers committed to contributing meaningfully to public health knowledge and practice in Nepal and beyond. It aims to develop independent researchers, academic leaders, and public health scholars capable of carrying out relevant research in Nepal and elsewhere.

To ensure a high standard of academic excellence, the academy has set rigorous eligibility criteria for prospective candidates. Applicants must hold a Master's Degree in Health Sciences or a related field with at least three years of professional experience and a minimum of three peer-reviewed publications. The selection process is equally comprehensive, involving a written entrance examination followed by a presentation of a research proposal and a formal interview for shortlisted candidates. This ensures that only those with a strong foundation in public health and a clear vision for impactful research are admitted into the program.

The program is set to commence on April 16, 2026, signalling a major milestone for PAHS as it continues to expand its academic portfolio from undergraduate and master's levels into high-level doctoral research. Prospective students are encouraged to complete their applications by February 12, 2026. View the admission notice here.
