NAMS Approves 4.12 Billion Budget, Plans Expansion

KATHMANDU – The National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) has approved a budget of NPR 4.12 billion for the current fiscal year. The decision was made during the 33rd NAMS Senate meeting, which took place on Monday.

The meeting, chaired by Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel, who is also the co-chancellor of NAMS, also gave its in-principle agreement to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the academy's new extended campus in Duwakot, Bhaktapur.

According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Bahadur Basnet, the senate also approved several other key proposals. These include providing degrees to 178 graduates at the upcoming convocation ceremony and adjusting the cost of living allowance for health workers and employees.

Additionally, the meeting approved the creation of new teaching positions at several hospitals, including Bir Hospital, Nepal Police Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Kanti Children's Hospital, Bharatpur Hospital, and Koshi Hospital.

The meeting was attended by National Planning Commission member Dr. RP Bichha, Health Secretary Dr. Bikash Devkota, and other NAMS officials.
