Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Mahabir Pun, has expressed worry over Madhesh Province lagging behind in education.
In a programme organized for the preparation of declaring the literate province, Minister Pun viewed that although Madhesh Province was ahead in educational status, it had lost such status. The event was organized by the federal and provincial ministries.
"Madhesh Province is ahead in economic, social and political frontiers, but its education sector is awaiting urgent improvement. It is essential to study why this province is behind others," he observed, adding that all three tiers of government need to work in unison for sustainable development of education. He further reminded it is sheer backwardness not have all people literate when we are living in the age of technology.
Similarly, Minister for Education and Culture in Madhesh Province, Rani Sharma Tiwari, admitted that Madhesh is the most backward province in educational attainment. The provincial government is forwarding its activities with proper plans in place to improve education. For the sustainable development of education, collaborative efforts between the government and the non-government sector are imperative, according to her.
Madhesh Province Assembly member Anjana Pandit underscored the need of ensuring quality education with the participation of all three-tiers of government.
