Degrees Offered in Nepal

The central office of Lumbini Technological University, which has been operating from Nepalgunj, will now be run from Khajura in Banke.

Nearly five years after its establishment, the university will shift its administrative operations to Khajura after Khajura Rural Municipality handed over a building along with 10 kattha of land under its ownership. Chairperson of Khajura Rural Municipality, Dambar Bik, officially transferred the ownership documents of the building and land to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Binod Dhakal.

Chairperson Bik stated that the municipality aims to develop Khajura as a hub for education and healthcare. He expressed confidence that the university would play a significant role in producing skilled technical human resources and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

“Just as local people have embraced prestigious institutions like the cancer hospital and agricultural campus in Khajura, this university will also receive similar support and affection,” he said. “The rural municipality is always ready to provide the necessary support and coordination.”

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Binod Dhakal informed that administrative and academic activities of the Lumbini Technological University will soon begin from Khajura. “We will carry out necessary maintenance of the building and start operating the central office shortly,” he said. “The process of acquiring 50 bigha of land is in its final stage, and once acquired, infrastructure development will accelerate.”

University Registrar Reg Bahadur Bhandari mentioned that due to legal complications in land acquisition, the budget allocated by the provincial government has been frozen each year. Initially, 94 bigha of land was proposed, but it has now been reduced to 50 bigha, and the file is awaiting a decision from the federal cabinet.

The provincial government had formally established the university by issuing the ‘University Act’ in 2078 BS. With the acquisition of the building in Khajura, the university now has a more stable and permanent presence. Currently, it has been operating from a temporary location in Nepalgunj, offering classes in technical education, information technology, and engineering.
