Kathmandu Metropolitan City Issues 15-Day Ultimatum to 107 Non-Operational Schools

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has identified 107 schools within its jurisdiction that are not physically operating despite having received official approval. The finding follows a decision made by the Municipal Education Committee on Shrawan 28.

In response, the Metropolitan City has issued a 15-day ultimatum, directing the concerned schools to contact the Education Department. The Department released a public notice on Sunday, calling on school principals, operators, managers, or trustees to come forward if the institutions are still in operation.

According to the Metropolitan City, the approval cancellation process will begin for schools found to be non-operational on the ground. If the concerned parties fail to verify their operation within the given timeframe, the Education Department will recommend their closure to the Metropolitan City’s executive committee.

The Metropolitan City stated that this step is part of its ongoing effort to eliminate unauthorized or inactive schools and to streamline and regulate the education sector.
