Following the transfer of Dhankuta Hospital to Manmohan Technical University by the Koshi Province government, classes in the medical field, including B.Sc. Nursing, are set to begin.

As the curriculum for B.Sc. Nursing has already been prepared according to the guidelines of the regulatory body, the Medical Education Commission, Manmohan University is preparing to start the program at Dhankuta District Hospital in the upcoming academic session, in line with the commitment of the Koshi Province government.

Dr. Subashshree Pokharel, Vice-Chancellor of the university, stated that the provincial government had decided last Jestha to transfer Dhankuta Teaching Hospital to Manmohan and that once the agreement is finalized, the B.Sc. Nursing classes will begin from the next academic session. He added, “We expect to acquire Dhankuta Hospital by the upcoming Magh, and by Baisakh, the nursing curriculum will also be operational.”

Manmohan Technical University, the country’s first technical university established by the provincial government in 2076 BS, had been unable to run medical programs due to delays in acquiring the teaching hospital.

Although the curriculum for health technical programs had been prepared, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Pokharel, stated that the university had been waiting for the final government agreement, as the hospital had not yet been received.

“For the agreement, Manmohan has already submitted a draft memorandum of understanding to the Koshi government. However, the provincial Ministry of Health has not yet advanced the agreement process,” he explained.

The School of Medical and Health Sciences at Manmohan Technical University has prepared a new four-year B.Sc. Nursing curriculum according to the standards set by the Medical Education Commission. The curriculum has also been inspected by the Director of the Medical Education Commission, Pradha Sujabab Marhatha.

So far, Manmohan Technical University has been offering programs in civil and electrical and electronics engineering, pharmacy, five-year BBA/LLB programs, LLM at the postgraduate level, and hospital management through its affiliated campus.
