Pokhara Metropolitan City is one of the 5 municipalities in Kaski District of Gandaki Province. As per the 2021 census, the metropolitan city has a total population of 513,504, comprising 247,495 males (48.2%) and 266,009 females (51.8%), with a literacy rate of 88.72%. Spanning 464.24 square kilometers, Pokhara Metropolitan City exhibits the population density of 1,106 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 33 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Pokhara has 421 schools. Of these, 221 are private and 194 are public. The breakdown includes 238 pre-schools, 394 basic schools, and 243 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 186 offer +2 programs.
