Gaushala Municipality is one of the 15 municipalities in Mahottari District of Madhesh Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 72,481, comprising 36,250 males (50.0%) and 36,231 females (50.0%), with a literacy rate of 60.97%. Spanning 144.73 square kilometers, Gaushala Municipality exhibits the population density of 501 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 12 wards.
