The Dean’s Office, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Tribhuvan University conducts an entrance examination for candidates seeking enrollment in selected Master’s Degree (MA) and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programmes. The entrance examination is designed to assess subject knowledge, academic aptitude, and readiness for advanced study in the humanities and social sciences.
The entrance examination is required for admission to the following MA Regular Programmes:
Anthropology, Buddhist Studies, Economics, English, Fine Arts, Dance, Nepalese History Culture and Archeology (NeHCA), Geography, Hindi, History, Journalism and Mass Communication, Home Science, Library Science, Linguistics, Maithili, Nepalbhasa, Nepali, Political Science, Population Studies, Psychology, Rural Development, Sanskrit, and Sociology.
Candidates applying to Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Self-sustainable Programmes must also appear in the entrance examination for the following disciplines:
Counseling Psychology, Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition, School Counseling, Women Studies, Yoga Science, and Library and Information Science.
Similarly, the entrance examination applies to MA Self-sustainable Programmes, including:
International Relations and Diplomacy, Conflict Peace Development Studies, Social Work, Gender Studies, Labour Studies, Counseling Psychology, Public Policy Governance and Anti-corruption Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Management Studies, Crisis Management Studies, Sports Science, and Yogic Science.
Appearing in and qualifying the entrance examination is a mandatory step for candidates seeking admission to these programmes, as prescribed by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Tribhuvan University.
Students who have completed a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in the relevant subject from Tribhuvan University or any recognized institution and meet the criteria established by the respective subject committee are eligible to appear for the entrance examination. Applicants must upload a recent photograph and educational certificates from SLC/SEE to the Bachelor's level while completing the online application form.
