Find Your Best-FitNepal Open University, through its Faculty of Management and Law (FOML), offers a PhD program in Management. This program was launched in the year 2078 BS. The Faculty is committed to supporting students as they supervise and complete their research during their studies.
PhD students are expected to explore topics related to various fields within management, including general management, finance and accountancy, marketing management, human resource management, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, international business, production and operations management, development management, governance (which encompasses public administration, public governance, and public economics), as well as other related subjects.
Only candidates who successfully pass the PhD admission test will be permitted to pursue their PhD research. During their research period, students are required to collaborate with their supervisors through face-to-face meetings and/or other communication modes.
Duration
For PhD students, the minimum time is three years, and they can apply for a one-year extension.
Extensions and Dismissal
Candidates can apply for a one-year extension with the recommendation of the Chair of the Faculty Research Committee. Failure to complete coursework or thesis requirements within the stipulated period (including extensions) may lead to dismissal.
Eligibility
Applicants must have passed an M.Phil. in Management with a minimum CGPA of 3.3 from a recognized university, along with five years of teaching or other relevant professional experience.
Admission Criteria
- A written Research Intention on a research topic that the student wants to pursue for a PhD.
- The Research Intention (Proposal) of 1,000 words in handwritten MUST cover:
- Introduction
- Literature Review
- Methodology
- Expectation Outcomes
- References (APA style)
- The evaluation of the Research Intention (Proposal) determines the student's selection.
- The student MUST appear in an online examination covering:
- Verbal Ability
- Quantitative Ability
- General Awareness and Logic Reasoning
- Research Methodology
- Successful candidates will undergo an interview that evaluates them on the following criteria:
- Research Aptitude
- Research Knowledge
- Communication Skill
- Motivation for pursuing the PhD research
- The final selection of the PhD students lies within the jurisdiction of the Faculty Research Committee.
- The selected students are listed for the admission process on a merit basis.
- After the final selection, the PhD students are assigned to supervisors.
