The MPhil in Management at FWU involves the systematic acquisition and understanding of a substantial body of knowledge in a student's chosen academic discipline or area of professional practice in business. The focus of the program is thus to produce research scholars and professionals who would serve effectively in academia as well as in the corporate sector, and demonstrate specialist subject knowledge and a high level of transferable skills, including consultancy, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Mode of Class, and Attendance Requirement at FWU
- Mode of Class: The MPhil and MPhil Leading to PhD (Coursework PhD) program classes will be conducted in Blended Mode.
- Physical Classes: Conducted at the Central Department of Management or the University Central Office's Conference Hall.
- Online Classes: Conducted via the university's authenticated MST.
- Attendance Requirement: The required attendance for the coursework is 75%.
Entrance Examination Module:
- Subjective Written Test (40 marks) The subjective written test for MPhil/MPhil Leading to PhD program includes:
(i) an essay-type question aimed at assessing the disciplinary scholarship of the student,
(ii) a question on any issue of research, and
(iii) a question trying to assess the creative, critical reasoning faculty of the applicant. The time allocated for the written test is 2.00 hours. - Personal Interview (20 marks)

Result of the Entrance Test, and Admission
Based on the merit of the evaluation criteria, the result of the MPhil/PhD entrance examination will be published by the Office of the Dean. The successful candidates must be enrolled by paying the necessary fees within the deadline. Enrolled students will receive notifications of provisional admission from the Office of the Dean. Within one month of admission, students who have completed their graduate degree from a university other than FWU must complete and submit the university registration form (a migration certificate is mandatory for university registration).
Procedures for MPhil Degree (Terminating MPhil)
After the successful completion of the second semester, students choosing the MPhil Degree should follow these steps:

Eligibility
Applicants who have secured a grade of 3 on a 4-point scale or the equivalent grade or minimum second division marks in a Master's degree in the relevant subject from any recognized university may apply for admission to the MPhil, and MPhil Leading to PhD (Coursework PhD) program.

Requirement of Documents
Applicants applying for MPhil Programs will fulfill the following requirements of documents for the entrance test and admissions to the program:
- Academic transcripts of undergraduate level, and onwards.
- Statement of Purpose (SoP) stating motivation for coming to FWU, enrolling in its MPhil/PhD Program, and career plans after completing the Program (500 words).
- Writing Sample (a research paper) of 1000-1500 words.
- Abstract of the MPhil Thesis (for PhD admission only).
- Bank voucher of entrance fees of Rs 3,000 in favor of:
- Account holder's name: FWU FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT.
- Bank name: Nepal Bank Ltd., Mahendranagar Branch.
- Account Number: 15600107122299000001.
- Two letters of recommendation (for PhD admission only).
- Other research/publication-related achievements.
Submission of a Personal Record File containing hard copies of all the above-mentioned documents at the time of the Personal Interview is compulsory.
Curricular Structure
The MPhil program is a three-semester course. The duration of the course is 18 months. The program is anchored by 6 required, rigorous, and integrated course modules with 18 credit hours that promote a general-management perspective, and provide a framework for the more function-specific seminar courses. The completion of the MPhil (Terminating MPhil) degree requires the completion of the following courses of 30 credit hours (including dissertation):

After the successful completion of the second semester, students are required to choose either to terminate MPhil with an MPhil degree or continue the PhD program.
Evaluation System
The student shall be continuously evaluated for academic performance in a course through Continuous Internal Assessment (40%), and the End-of-Semester Examination (60%). A student's academic performance in a course module is evaluated in two phases: Internally by the concerned faculty member, and externally by the Dean's Office through semester-end examinations. A student is required to pass the internal, and external evaluations independently.
The final grade is awarded on the basis of the student's consolidated performance in both internal, and external evaluations. The final evaluation of the course is carried out on a four-point grading system, which is as follows:
