This course is designed to meet the requirements of religious studies by research in Buddhist History, Religion, Philosophy, Literature, Art, Iconography, Architecture, Archaeology, Epigraphic Scriptural traditions, World Religion, Asian Tradition, Methods in Research, IT, Buddhist Tourism, and practice.

It intends to grow proficient students with erudition on Buddhism of Nepal and the globe for their philosophic and ritual practices, Buddhist arts, and scriptural, iconography, archaeological, architectural, and touristic information. Masters in Buddhist Studies (MBS) is prepared for spacious comprehension and skills in research for investigation with tools to advance further for M.Phil, and Ph.D., to specialize in professionalism. This course offers multi-dimensional scopes for those areas of specializations as mentioned above in sacrosanct, aesthetics, liturgical, textural studies of religious and philosophical traditions of the world, Asia and Nepal. 

The delicacy of the semester course remains intact with splendor of the world's religions and traditions. This is grasped with socio-religious cultures of Sravakayana, Mahayana and Information Technological basis and norms of Buddhist tourism in fourth semester. 

Objectives:

  1. To incorporate with chronological familiarity of Buddhism as reflected in Buddha's life history and important events, to his teaching in practice of various sects of Buddhism by philosophic, religious, literature, texts, cultural, ritual, arts, architectures, iconography, scripts and with conversation and preservation thoughts.
  2. To acknowledge archaeological chronologies, traditions, cultures on Buddhist Tourism and traditions of Asia and the world.
  3. To enhance knowledge on different sects as parts of different religions of world as sects and schools of thoughts in practice.
  4. To equip students with the ability to carry out contemporary Buddhist research with technology.

Eligibility

Admission for Master's in Buddhist Studies (MBS) is open to all students from any disciplines having passed in Bachelor Degree program or its equivalent from any recognized universities.

Admission Criteria

Students will be selected for admission on the basis of merit, as decided by performance in the written test.

Written examination of two hour will be taken for admission. The entrance examination carries 100 marks, 50 marks for objective questions and 50 marks for essay writing.
