M.Sc. Mathematics (Semester System) runs for two academic years, i.e., four semesters. The total aggregate of credit hours for the four semesters is at least 100.

Eligibility

Students interested in studying Mathematics at the Master's level (Postgraduate) must fulfill the following minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must have completed a 3-year or 4-year BSc program with Mathematics as a Major subject OR
  • applicants must have completed a 3-year BA program with Mathematics as a Major subject OR
  • candidates with a BEd degree who have passed the third-year BA courses-Math 331, Math 332, and Math 333 or
  • Those holding a relevant degree from a foreign university who completed a Mathematics as a Major course of at least 600 Full Marks (or 80 Credit Hours).

M.Sc Mathematics Entrance Examination

  1. The weightage of the entrance examination will be 100 full marks, and the duration will be 2 hours. Questions are asked according to the B.Sc/BA Mathematics syllabus prescribed by the committee.
  2. The questions will be Objective or multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Each question will carry 1 (one) weightage.
  3. 35% marks must be obtained to pass the entrance examination.

Admission Criteria

  1. Students must attend and pass the entrance examination.
  2. Pass mark for the entrance examination is 35%.
  3. Students will be enrolled on the basis of merit. Merit list is published on the basis of both marks obtained in Bachelor level and entrance examination.
Merit list: = 20% (marks obtained in B.Sc) + 80 % (marks secured in entrance examination)

In Central department and constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University; out of total available seats 80% seats will be filled from free competition and 20% from reserved (inclusive) category.

Students who want to compete from proportional representation category must fulfilled following criteria.

  • Passed SLC from community schools
  • Students who are permanent resident of backward region must have passed SLC from the same region
  • Students must have passed Bachelor level from constitutent campus of Tribhuvan University or Community campuses.

Documents needed:

If any seats remain vacant in the inclusive/reserved category; remaining seats will be fulfilled from the merit list of free competition.
