The Master of Public Administration and Leadership (MPAL) is a one-year program offered in a blended format (online and in-person) at Far Western University. This program aims to provide civil servants and employees from various organizations the opportunity to earn professional degrees conveniently. It combines both theoretical and practical courses throughout the academic year to prepare skilled professionals for the workforce.

The main objective of the MPAL program is to develop capable human resources for roles in both governmental and non-governmental sectors. The program consists of two semesters and is designed for individuals seeking employment in the civil service or those already working at different levels in government, non-governmental organizations, and other public or private sectors.

The curriculum employs a variety of interactive methods, including group and individual activities, self-directed materials, and information technology. Participants will also enhance their skills through simulated and real workplace experiences.

As a multidisciplinary program, the Graduate program in Public Administration and Leadership (MPAL) offers students analytical and professional skills, alongside knowledge in public administration, management, policy-making, science and technology, psychology, medicine, and leadership within government contexts. The modules in the MPAL program are structured to provide a rigorous and comprehensive education in public administration, economics, politics, and leadership.

Studying Public Administration and Leadership at Far Western University will provide insights into the realms of politics, public administration, and civil society, both within Nepal and internationally. Graduates will come to understand that politics is not only the responsibility of elected officials but also a concern for individual citizens and the organizations they belong to. They will learn to critically analyze the world of public leadership and engage meaningfully with it.

Admission Criteria

MPAL (One-year) Admission Process 

The one-year Master of Public Administration and Leadership (MPAL) program is highly sought after by graduates. It offers comprehensive knowledge and essential skills for those aiming to succeed in the social sector. The curriculum combines theoretical understanding with practical experience, preparing students for real-world challenges.

Far Western University, under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, offers admission to the MPAL program through an entrance examination. The entrance exam will be conducted by the Dean’s Office, and the final examination will be conducted by the Office of the Controller of Examinations in coordination with the Office of the Dean at the Central Campus, Mahendranagar. 

Applicants must have completed a master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university to be eligible for admission.
