Institutions offering BAMS
The world "Ayurveda" is composed of two Sanskrit terms viz. 'ayu' meaning 'life' and 'veda' meaning 'knowledge'. Therefore 'ayurveda' means "knowledge of life or science of life".
BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery) is a basic doctor course in Ayurveda. It is five and half years course including one year rotating internship. The curriculums of BAMS is as approved by IOM TU, Ayurvedic Medical Council of Nepal and ICCM of India. BAMS course is also equivalent with MBBS. After BAMS one can do MD, MS, PHD etc is different field. Nowadays, most of the developed countries are also paying their special attention towards Ayurveda Medical Science, so the scope of Ayurveda Medical Science is increasing day by day in the world. So it is really the investigation & researching field for the welfare of human being by herbal medicines.
Eligibility
- Must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects from a recognized educational institution and passed with a minimum of 50% or 2.4 CGPA/GPA in the Proficiency Certificate Level or Grade 12 Science Group.
or
- Students from A-level or other similar programs with different grading systems should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects and passed with a minimum of 50 percent or 2.4 CGPA/GPA. The applicant must have obtained equivalence letter.
or
- Proficiency Certificate Level / Diploma in Ayurveda with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and registered with concerned council.
or
- Proficiency Certificate/Diploma in Health Science (Medical Lab Technology or Ophthalmic Science or Dental Science or Pharmacy or Radiography or Ayurveda or Physiotherapy) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and having studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology subject with minimum 50% in aggregate or 2.4 CGPA (CGPA) marks from National Examination Board and obtained the equivalence of class 12th science group and should be registered in the concerned council.

Provisions for Admission Process
- In order to pass the integrated admission process, a minimum of 50 percentile should be obtained.
- One mark will be awarded for each correct answer and marks will be deducted at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
Candidates who have been successfully selected in the admission process will have to submit the following original and 1/1 photocopy of the following documents to the concerned educational institution at the time of admission.
- Certificate of qualification, Transcript and Character Certificate of 10+2 and SLC/SEE or Equivalent.
- Copy of Citizenship / Passport.
- Admit card of the Entrance Examination.
- Documents submitted for reservation.
- Certificate of Equivalence for the students with certificates from foreign institutions.
Foreign candidates wishing to study in the vacated seat for foreign students must fill in the online application form mentioning the academic program of their choice within the time limit mentioned in this notice.
Provisions for BAMS Scholarships
Sub-Sections (4), (6), and (7) of Section 17 of the National Medical Education Act, 2018 and Section 20 of the National Medical Education Regulations 2020 has outlined this process for BAMS Scholarships in Nepal.

Entrance Examination Format
The entrance examination format for enrollment in the BAMS program at Ayurveda Campus and all the affiliated ayurvedic colleges under Tribhuvan University is MECEE-BL. Read more about MECEE-BL here.
Provisions for Barrier
First Phase Barrier:
- Students admitted to the BAMS Program must pass the first-year examination within a maximum of 4 (four) attempts (including the regular attempt).
Students will be permitted to participate in the second-phase classes only after successfully passing all subjects in the first phase.
The admission of any examinee who fails to pass the first-phase examinations within the aforementioned time limits will be canceled, and they will be removed from the program.
Absence from an examination conducted during the specified period will be counted as an Attempt. However, if a student provides a reasonable written justification and does not fill out the examination form, or if they are unable to participate in any examination after filling out the form (subject to approval from the Dean's Office), a maximum of two attempts within the first phase will not be counted as attempts.
Academic Session Exit Barrier
Every student must mandatorily pass all subjects within 10 (ten) years from the start of the academic session. The admission of students who fail to do so will be canceled after the expiry of the said period.
Mandatory Requirement:
Students must mandatorily present themselves at their respective campus/college within 15 days of the commencement of classes.
