Master of Business Studies (MBS) is a two-year (four-semester) program of the Faculty of Management, TU. This is one of the most sought degrees in Nepal and every year a large number of students get enrolled in this program. The course structure of the MBS has been divided into core courses, specialization, and thesis writing to give students comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter from different perspectives. Moreover, the course also aims to keep students up to date with the modern practices and changes in the field of business studies. The course is designed to develop skills in students to enable them to take higher-level managerial positions in the private and public sectors. The MBS programs require the students to study a total of 1000 marks.
Objectives of the MBS Program
The objective of the MBS program is to enable the students to work as competent managers and to meet the demand of higher level managers in organizations, particularly in the functional areas of management Upon graduation, a student should be able to function as a manager in business, Industry, government and nongovernmental sector, within and outside the country, in areas like accounting, marketing, finance and general management. The student applying for admission to the MBS course must have successfully completed the BBS program or a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from TU or an equivalent.
The Faculty of Management (FOM) shall conduct a Central Management Admission Test (CMAT) for the MBS level. Students eligible for the MBS program must take the CMAT to qualify for admission to the campuses. The FOM shall issue a score sheet to each student appearing in the CMAT. The test carries a full mark of 100, and it must be completed within 90 minutes.
