Master of Arts (MA) in Rural Development is a two-year Master's Degree Program in Arts. There are 10 papers to be covered in the two-year program. Apart from other core subjects, students have the option to choose from a thesis, a project report/co-operative, or Gender Development or Natural Resource Management for Rural Development in their final year. The MA in Rural Development aims to produce development cadres capable of meeting the demand for higher-level rural developers in government and non-government sectors.
The Master of Arts (MA) course is designed and developed based on the principle of knowledge and skill-based education, with the primary goal of linking development studies with the labor market to advance students' future careers. The curriculum has been thoughtfully developed to incorporate a range of core values, including learning skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, teamwork and management skills, personal responsibility, research skills, and practical skills.
A major objective of the course is to provide students with a broad intellectual foundation in development studies. This is achieved by imparting a comprehensive understanding of development discourse, grounded in theoretical, historical, and empirical foundations. The program offers a wide range of major thematic areas of development, drawing from interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies. This approach enables learners to enhance their ability to conceptualize development and its associated agendas.
To be eligible for the entrance examination, prospective students must have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree at the undergraduate level from Tribhuvan University or hold an equivalent qualification from another recognized institution.
The Office of the Dean formally announces the opening of admissions through national daily newspapers and on its official website. These announcements provide detailed information about the application procedure and the deadline for submitting the form.

The Office of the Dean is responsible for conducting an entrance examination designed to assess the fundamental abilities of the candidates. Following the examination, the office will officially publish the results.
