The MU Institute of Cooperation and Development in Lalitpur offers the Master in International Cooperation and Development (MICD). In partnership with Mid-West University and Italy’s University of Pavia, the institute offers a multidisciplinary curriculum designed to equip students with specialized skills for leadership in global development and humanitarian response.

Admission Guidelines

Eligibility and Entry Requirement

  • Application Period: Applications for the spring session are invited annually between December and February.
  • Eligibility: Open to candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any academic discipline.
  • Selection Process: Admission is determined by a mandatory entrance examination.
  • Merit-Based Admission: Following the exam, a merit list will be published. Only the highest-ranking candidates will be selected.
  • Limited Seats: Due to the program's competitive nature, only a limited number of students are accepted into MICD each year.

ABOUT US

MICD Office at Nayabato, Dhobighat, Lalitpur offers the Master in International Cooperation and Development (MICD), a Kathmandu-based postgraduate program of Mid-West University, in partnership with the international network CDN, Pavia, Italy.

The Mid-West University (MU), established by the MU Act of 2010, has been offering a Master of International Cooperation and Development (MICD) under the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences since 2013. The course was initiated with academic and technical assistance from the University of Pavia in Italy. It is a part of the Cooperation and Development Network (CDN), a UNESCO-accredited network of post-graduate education programs in cooperation and development. The post-graduate program of CDN, which is hosted by five universities: Bethlehem University-Palestine, Kenyatta University-Kenya, Mid-West University-Nepal, Universidad De San Buenaventura Cartagena-Columbia, and University of Pavia-Italy, is spread across four continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America.

The Master's in International Cooperation and Development (MICD) is a postgraduate, multidisciplinary program that aims to equip students with the competencies and skills necessary to contribute to varied areas of development and humanitarian response in Nepal and the international context. The Master’s Program is designed to equip learners with both the academic background to approach development critically and the project management skills needed by NGOs, development agencies, and public institutions.
