Application Call for PhD and Master by Research Programs 2026- KUSOE

Kathmandu University School of Engineering invites applications from dedicated, competent and highly qualified candidates, who are willing to pursue PhD and Master's by Research degree in the different departments of the School of Engineering, Kathmandu University for the academic year 2026.

Applications are sought by the following Departments:

• Department of Architecture
• Department of Artificial Intelligence
• Department of Chemical Science & Engineering
• Department of Civil Engineering
• Department of Computer Science & Engineering
• Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Department of Environmental Engineering
• Department of Geomatics Engineering
• Department of Health Informatics
• Department of Mechanical Engineering

Eligibility Criteria:

For  Masters by Research

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other related programs recognized by the respective departments with a CGPA of 2.5 or equivalent.
• Completion of 16 years of education in total.
• Prior research engagements and publications are preferable.

For PhD

• Master's Degree in Engineering or other programs with related degrees recognized by the respective departments with a CGPA of 3.0 or equivalent.
• Completion of 18 years of education in total.
• Prior research engagements and publications are preferable.

Application Process & Fees

• Submission: Candidates must submit a complete research proposal, filled application form, and attested copies of academic certificates/transcripts to the respective departments.

-Candidates would need to go through the Departmental pre-selection procedures as scheduled by the Department. 

-Supervisor allocation to the candidates would be decided by the Department after the completion of the pre-selection procedures.

-The pre-selected applications need to be approved by the Research Committee, School of Engineering for formal admission in the programs. 

-This application call is valid throughout the year. Applicants will receive notification for the proposal defense after completion of pre-selection procedures. In accordance with the received applications, schedules of the proposal defense will be announced by the Research Committee, School of Engineering.
