Admission Open for Bachelors at NIST Higher Education

Located in Lainchour, Kathmandu, NIST Higher Education has three colleges under it: National College, National College of Food Science and Technology (NCFST), and National Model College of Advance Learning (NMCAL). The institute is currently accepting applications for the following Bachelor's programs:

Eligibility:

For BCA

  • Successfully completed a twelve-year schooling or equivalent from any University, Board or Institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.

  • Secured a minimum of second division (45%) or a minimum CGPA of 2.0 with at least a D+ in an individual subject.

For BBM

  • Successfully completed twelve years of schooling or its equivalent from any university, board, or institution recognized by Tribhuvan University.

  • Minimum D+ grade in each subject of grade 11 and 12 with a CGPA of 1.80 or more / Secured at least second division in the 10+2, PCL, or equivalent program; and complied with all the application procedures.

For BBS

  • Must have successfully completed the 10+2 in business/ commerce or an equivalent course from a National Examination Board or from Tribhuvan University or from other University/Board recognized by T.U.

  • Must satisfy any other entry requirements or criteria as prescribed by the Faculty Board of the college.

For B. Pharmacy

  • Candidates should have successfully completed a Certificate in Pharmacy from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) or a university recognized by Tribhuvan University (TU). OR,

  • Candidates should have passed the I. SC. or 10+2 (Biology Group) or an equivalent degree from a board, institution, or university recognized by Tribhuvan University (TU).

  • Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the I. SC. or 10+2 or Certificate in Pharmacy or its equivalent.

  • Candidates from the I. SC. and 10+2 science background should not exceed the age of 25. However, there is no age limit for students with a Certificate in Pharmacy.

For B.Tech.(Food)

  • The candidates who have passed in the second division of I.Sc. Or 10+2 (science) and a certificate level of food technology/laboratory technology from Tribhuvan University or an institute recognized by this university shall be considered eligible to apply for admission to B.Tech. (Food).

Admission Guidelines:

BCA

Admission of eligible candidates will be based on the score obtained on the entrance test conducted by the Dean’s office, Tribhuvan University, and performance in a personal interview. The entrance test consists of English 40%, Mathematics 50%, and General Knowledge 10%. Students must secure at least a 40 % score in the test to qualify for an interview. The interview will be conducted strictly based on merit. Candidates who pass the entrance exam taken by the university will be interviewed, and the selected candidate from the interview will be eligible for admission. There are 35 quotas for admission in BCA

BBM

Eligible applicants are required to appear in the entrance test commonly known as the Central Management Admission Test (CMAT), conducted by the Faculty of Management. The test will follow the international testing pattern and standards. It includes the areas like:

  • Verbal ability
  • Quantitative ability
  • Logical reasoning
  • General awareness

There shall be altogether one hundred (100) objective questions in the CMAT, containing twenty (25) questions in each section with a total weight of 100 marks. Students must secure a minimum of 40% in the CMAT in order to qualify for the interview.

BTech Food

All applicants must take the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Science and Technology (loST), Tribhuvan University. A passing score on the entrance exam is mandatory.

The university will release a merit list based on entrance exam performance. Those on the merit list can seek admission to Tribhuvan University, its constituent campuses, and affiliated private colleges according to their ranking.

Scholarship Information

National College has a policy to offer a special scholarship to students graduating from educational institutions governed by NIST. The NACOL board has decided to award scholarships to high-achieving students. Therefore, students who score more than a B grade in Commerce, Humanities, and Science in their +2 or equivalent exams are eligible for the scholarship schemes (see attached sheet for details). Recipients of the scholarship must pass the internal examinations conducted by the college; otherwise, the scholarship may be revoked at any time.
